No holiday to Ibiza is complete without taking a trip round the beautiful island on a boat. From party boats to banana boats, inflatable ribs to luxury yachts there really is something to cater for all budgets and tastes. While chartering your own boat can be expensive, there are many other cheaper alternatives for seeing Ibiza from the water. Here are some of the most popular boat excursions in Ibiza.
Self Drive Boats from Star Boats (No license required)
Located on Es Puet Beach in San Antonio, Star Boats is a boat rental company which rents out small self-drive speedboats. These boats have engines small enough that you can take them for a spin even with no previous boating experience. The boats fit up 6 people and are pretty basic but being able to drive your own boat around the West coast of Ibiza is pretty cool. The prices are much cheaper than chartering a ‘proper’ speedboat too.
Aquabus ferry to Formentera
The Aquabus ferry is the cheapest way to get to Formentera with prices starting at just €15 one way. If you’ve never been to Formentera we highly recommend checking it out. The powdery white beaches are some of the very best in Europe, if not the world. While it can get pretty crowded during high season, it is nice to experience a more laid back alternative to Ibiza. The ferry to Formentera leaves from Ibiza Town, stopping off at Figueretas and Playa D’en Bossa around 4 times daily.
Sunset Trip to Benirras (Sundays)
Another popular boat trip is to the famous unspoilt Benirras beach in the North of the Island. Benirras beach is one of the most renowned beaches in Ibiza for the Sunday Sunset drummers who descend on this magical beach. Every Sunday as sunset nears, a group of Ibiza hippies congregate on Benirras beach to play bongos as the sun disappears into the sea. This is a great experience to witness a taste of the old bohemian, hippy side to the Island which is unfortunately disappearing over recent years with the influx of the more up-market crowd. The Aquabus boat to Benirras leaves from San Miguel and returns after Sunset.
Xtreme Jet boat San Antonio
For those wanting to get the adrenaline pumping as opposed to sightseeing, look no further than Ibizas Xtreme Jet Boat. This high powered speedboat spins 180 and 360 degrees at high speed using their 500 horse power twin engines! The boat trip goes from San Antonio beach and the trip lasts an hour. You can book on their website – it costs 40 Euros and is available to anyone over 16 years old.
